Thinking of buying a kayak or recently purchased one? This class teaches those relatively new to kayaking how to safely and enjoyably kayak on lakes, calm protected ocean environments, and other flat water settings. Bring your own kayak or rent one.

Basic outfitting & gear
Safe ways to enter and exit a kayak
Initial maneuvering strokes
Assessing weather and tides
Suggested launch sites on Whidbey
Sea Kayak Jump Start
6.5 hours/9:00am - 3:30pm/$145 per student
This one-day intensive is for paddlers who want to step up their skills with more strokes and maneuvers and learn how to manage a capsize. This class is also great for those who need a safety refresh before getting back on the water. Bring your own sea kayak or rent one. Drysuit or wetsuit highly recommended and can be rented.

1.5 hours/5:30pm - 7:00pm/$40 per student
Should you stay or should you go? Understand more about the dynamic environment you are paddling and how to interpret the data. Learn how to utilize multiple resources including your own physical observations and all the best phone apps.
Those new to Whidbey also enjoy this class as a way of learning about the island’s weather peculiarities and when to safely walk its beaches.
