Kayak Camp! Paddling Skills for Teens

No previous kayaking experience is needed for this fun-filled water orientated camp! Campers will be introduced to basic water safety and sea kayaking skills including: outfitting & gear, wet exits, self and assisted rescue, and key paddle strokes. Participants should expect to get wet and have fun playing games like ‘kayak polo,’ ‘kayak sponge tag’ that build paddling and boat-handling skills. Participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in deep, over-your-head water while wearing a personal flotation device (lifejacket). They must also be able to pull oneself up onto the deck of a pool from the deep end without use of steps or ladders. This class is an excellent intro to kayaking, but does not imply any certification or infer any skill qualification.
